Maverick was hatched in a little town named Nestingburg where his love of hockey began at a young age. He loved hockey so much that he would fly into the top of hockey arenas all over to just be able to watch the game. Every year, Maverick's family would fly south for the winter to Pensacola in order to escape the cold weather of Nestingburg. Last year when Maverick flew down to Pensacola he saw that the Pensacola Ice Flyers were just starting to take flight. Since he loved hockey and Pensacola so much decided that he had to try and be part of the team! With that Maverick went into the Ice Flyers' front office and had a squawk with Head Coach, Todd Gordon. Maverick said, "I want to play for the team! I'm really good; I fly around the ice and shoot strong with my left wing!" "Well we already have a full roster," Coach Gordon said, smiling, "but I have the perfect job for you my friend!"
From then on, Maverick was part of the team, not as a player but as our mascot! He tracked over 20,864 hugs and 18,932 laughs last season. Maverick has two brothers and a sister named Earl, Ernie, and Ester who visit him regularly in the offseason. You can catch Maverick around The Hangar on game days dancing around the area, giving hugs, and having a great time!
